I bought an '05 V50 with 13,000-odd miles on it and drove it several hundred miles home with no problems. The next day while I was out driving in my neighborhood the car started chattering markedly over some rough pavement. The only "cure" was to come to a complete stop or speed up considerably (the former worked better than the latter). I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Much has been written about the stiffness/unforgiving quality of the suspension -- it almost feels like a when a tuning fork starts to vibrate and keeps on vibrating for a while. The headrest was knocking me in the back of the head for blocks. Please share your thoughts/experiences/concerns on this topic if you have any. My car is the T5 AWD version.

I have a T5 AWD with the 17" wheels and have had NO annoyances or issues with
ride quality. Even the 17" wheels do not offer a harsh ride as some say. This is
a 2006 so maybe some earlier production was different. I have a SAAB Viggen
with lower profile tires (45 series) on 17" wheels (than the V50) and that is a harsher ride compared to the V50. The V50 has 50 series profile tires and I think that gives the
"cushier" ride vs. say 45 series tire.

I never had what you have described and hope we don't. This only has 7,000 miles on
it, yet if there was to be an issue I'm sure it would have surfaced. It almost sounds
like it could have been drivetrain related (transmission?). I also have the 6 speed,
so that may be different, as most are all automatics. We had to special order this
with the 6 speed as they do not make very many.
