today at 17:10 the volvo covered her first half mile under her own steam since she was hit. i'm over the moon. i replaced the very mashed lower wishbone and the steering, brakes, and drive was perfect, even using the silly space saver spare wheel. i couldn't be happier. all i need now is the new bumper, wheels, lights and some paint and she'll be back on the road. look out world. she's back!

Brilliant mm - did the vibration go when you replaced the lower wishbone?

Reminds me of:

"Guess who's back
Back again
Shady's back
Tell a friend
Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back
guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back

I've created a monster....."

Did you get a new front bumper to match the rest of the body kit?

Saw a green S40 facelift model on the back of a recovery truck on M25 today, offside front corner crunched. 30 seconds later passed a Renault smashed to bits on the back of another recovery lorry. Wonder whether they had just met?! Both passenger safety cells looked to be well intact thankfully. Maybe another French car vs S40 scenario mm?

Lorry kicked up a stone as I was passing it on Monday - new windscreen being fitted next monday. :(

:amen:

Thanks ampangbear. At least it will only cost me £60 (around $100 US) on the insurance excess, but it's still a pain & an expense I could do without.

Noticed a couple of new members from Malaysia - no doubt you'll touch base with them soon, if you haven't already!

I'd LOVE to get her professionally chipped & maybe play with the exhaust, fit bigger rims & better, maybe bigger brakes BUT if I do, the extended warranty will probably not be worth the paper it's written on, so for the time being, she stays as Volvo intended, which is still mighty fine!

Ooh, which chips are OK with Volvo? Could it be a case of +35 bhp & even quicker front tyre wear here I come?

I wouldn't play with the wheels until I could afford to improve the brakes at the same time, so any recommendations on what works well would be gratefully received.

Stop press... (cue morse code noises):

I had to choose the replacement for my company car today (currently a Vauxhall Signum), hopefully for delivery around 10th September.

Had to choose from Saab or Vauxhall (GM) - not Volvo I'm afraid - & am not prepared to pay extra for the Saab badge when the chassis & engine are the same but the Saab spec. is way lower.

So after strongly considering the new Astra Twintop Coupe Convertible & regrettably rejecting it on price, I've plumped for a Vectra SRi 3.0 V6 24v CDTi with the "Interactive Driving System Plus" option. I've only ever driven V6s as hire cars, both petrols & diesels, so a 3 litre turbo commonrail @ 181bhp & a massive 400Nm of torque to use as a work tool should make travelling to meetings just a bit more fun. Not quite as quick as the T4 though.

now peeps. an update. new headlight/indicator (blinker for those over the pond) and bumper all arrived in that order today, each after i'd fitted the previous. so she looks intact now. just need to do the suspension.

nothing on the claim. she flies now i modified the inlet to a ram air effect. still need to sort the front tracking but had her up to 80mph unless the authorities ask! mild feathering on the front tyres. just gotta get used to the bumps. bit of rubbing on the rear arches with any passengers in the back. sounds a bit louder now. just have to paint her now.
