Hi,
I got my 2001 C70 2.3L 2 weeks ago and installed a K&N air filter yesterday. The "Check Engine" light has come on today, and before getting the OBDII connected to reset it I wanted to ask for some imput appealing to your experience:

1) could the increased airflow trigger the light?
2) anyone have any feedback about these filters? the performance posts that modify intake systems say nothing about a check engine light coming on.

Oil:
I need to change the oil although it is pretty clear and looks OK. The mechanic recommended Mobil 1 but said to check if it used a synthetic.

1)If it did not use synthetic oil would the Mobil 1 not be recommended for a 64K mile car?

I want to put on the K&N oil filter as well. Any experience out there with these?

I appreciate your time reading this and welcome any feedback.

Thanks!

The oil in the filter can kill the MAF. They need to have the oil cleaned off often. Alot of Volvo people suggest getting an air filter that doesnt require oil.

And even if u used a diff air filter, that wont trigger the engine check light because of more air flow. The computer just reads how much air passes by.

As for the oil, I never heard of anyone not recommending synthetic. Ive been using Royal Purple, but on my car the oil cap says Volvo recommends Castrol.
