Hello, new to this site. Trying to glean some instructional help for my '95 940 wagon (plain jane). Just had the a/c checked. they couldn't find the leak. Said it is possibly behind the dash. They wanted to re-charge the freon at $150. Is this something I can do myself? It would be a waste of $ to re-charge and have it all leak out.

In my opinion you should beable to recharge it your self with a little bit of guidance for wayy cheaper than $150, however if it has a leak, don't expect the a/c to work on that charge for anymore than 1-2weeks depending on how bad the leak is.

If it's leaking and you plan to keep your 940 wagon, I'd recommend converting it to R134 refrigerant which is much cheaper and more environmentally friendly than R12/freon.
The following link explains what is involved.

We did it to a 740 wagon and it was well worth it. The polar bears will also thank you.
