Thanks to this forum and Vexedvolvo.com, I learned about the faulty ETM and Volvo's decision to upgrade the warranty on the throttle mechanism. I had the notorious ETM problem while on my way to Santa Fe for vacation last September. Had to turn around and go back to my dealer, where it was fixed for $950. Didn't give it much more thought until joining this forum for a completely unrelated problem. Took the advice on Vexedvolvo.com and followed instructions to the letter. Volvo promises payment in 4 weeks but after 6, still no check.

I called the phone number on the pre-written letter provided on Vexedvolvo.com and to my suprise, they were actually helpful (the number isn't Volvo, it's a company they've hired to handle the rebate processing). They found no record of my submission but promised to research what must be piles and piles of rebate requests. They did as they promised, found my submission and cut me a check after only two days from my initial call.

So here's the advice: if you've followed all the rules and don't have your check after 4 weeks, CALL!! The squeaky wheel apparently gets the grease.
