Hi all.

We've taken the old girl on two test trips, to see how she copes with the caravan.
She did surprisingly well, only had to change down into 2nd gear for a couple of real steep hills, but kept up easily with the flow of traffic.

Looks like we'll not be replacing her with a Range Rover or similar. :)

Here's a pic of "Nelly" on a weekend away in Ludlow.

:cat: Hi there Stu.

Thanks for the photograph of the rig.

In rural New Zealand, that land would be about NZ$120.00 per square meter. Wherever you are, the soil is very rich in nutrients. Excellent agricultural potential. I'm only judging that statement from the colour of the grass in the photo. It looks like a beautiful area.

You are lucky to be living in such a beautiful country.

Cheers :right:

Yeah, it's lovely.
Ludlow is in Shropshire on the welsh border. Mostly rural farm land and only an hour from where we live. Some of the views are totaly stunning.
We're looking at moving to that area.
Hope it works out.

Thanks for the compliment. Here's a very typical view.

Not torturing her, She's a great tow car and I always take it smooth and easy when I'm towing with her.

It's got nothing to do with work, we use the van for touring around the U.K. and plan on taking "Nelly" and the van over to Europe this summer.

I work for Network Rail based in Birmingham, so 100% of my work is outdoors, and is split between rural areas and the city. Best job I've ever had, great working outdoors.

Ah yes Stu - the view from the top of the old slagheap - there's nothing quite like it! But seriously, it's nice to be reminded what a beautiful and lush country we're privileged to live in, even if it's generally cheaper to holiday abroad.

I'm lucky enough to live in Kent & my mother lives on the West Dorset coast with a lovely sea view. When the kids were younger we mostly holidayed in Dorset, Devon & Cornwall & stayed in static vans or chalets. Those were some of the nicest holidays we've ever had but very expensive, especially if the weather turned wet of course.

Couldn't you have got a bigger 'van though?!!!

I think that with 3 boys age 9, 7 and 5, touring with anything smaller would be a complete nightmare. Bonus is we've owned it for 7 weeks and already been away 3 times!!!

I am going for a Range Rover though, I've got the feeling I'm going to do her in before too long. 1400Kgs is maybe a bit much for a 17 year old car.

Kent eh? I've an old Army pal who lives in Orpington.

I'll agree with you about Cornwall, Devon and Dorset, stunning beauty. We managed to find time to have one weeks holiday in a static caravan near Bude last summer. We all had a fantastic time, body boarding etc, I felt like a kid again.

I've been all over the world and not yet found anywhere to match the beauty and diversity of rural Britain.

"Tally ho, old bean"!

Please tell me you won't be ditching the old girl (the Volvo you fool!).

We lived in Orpington for 6 months 24 years ago & I pass through it many times each week (nan-in-law still lives there) - we're 20 minutes drive from there now.

Spent a day in Bude a couple of years back when we were touring around & know exactly what you mean. We're off to Padstow with loads of friends in October (taking over 2 big houses - God help the locals & all the off licences have been warned to order extra supplies). We had many happy holidays in Treyarnon - happy memories.

Off for a Father's Day meal with wife & (allegedly) grown-up kids etc. - have a horrible feeling that I'm picking up the tab though...

TTFN.

Might well be looking at re-homing her or the 850 T5R. Our drive looks cluttered as it is, we sold the 960 last month. We're down to three cars now, even though only me and my wife drive.

Gonna have to think with my head and not my heart.

I spent a very drunk weekend in Orpington around 11 years ago. Lost weekend, can't remember a damn thing, apart from I had pizza for breakfast one of the mornings.

Stu  .

I'm sure I saw more than one pink elephant that weekend, I think there might even have been a whole herd of them!

Or was that some birds hen-party???

Probably a nurses' girlie night out from Farnborough Hospital Stu (where my son was born). It's been demolished now & they've built the Princess Royal Hospital - very nice indeed, but having visiting my wife's nan there in the past few days, I can honestly say that nursing standards (& the standard of nurses if you know what I mean, nudge nudge...) have gone down drastically!.
