Just bought an 06' xc90 v8. I have been trying to do some research on an oem subwoofer. I have seen some other sites talk about them costing around $300.00 yet my dealer tells me it is basically $1,000 w/ software.

Does anyone have a source for the OEM subwoofer at a reasonable price?

I would say the main reason for the price of the subwoofer from volvo would be because of the time to install, and the cost of part, software for the system to recgonize the new part, and then finally giving the car back. I work at a local dealership in MA, and our labor rate is $89.50 an hour, and for the part which would probably be around $200 to $300 and then software from volvo to have the AUM see the new subwoofer, would cost about another $100 or so. Then figure in the amount of time to install, I would say aprox. 2 or 3 hours to pull appart the car, install the new sub, lay in the wiring, test, then put it all back together. I would imagine that is what the $1000 price comes from.

I have however seen a pair of subs (non volvo) in a volvo, with the stock radio, and working with it. How it was done i do not know, but i do know they certainly sounded nice. Hope that helps.
