In which class does S40,S60 and S80 belong?I am very confused with things that I read in some magazines...
For example S40 - is it in same class as Audi A4,BMW 3 series,Mercedes C class or not? |

There basically referring to a "class" as a group of vehicles that are similarily priced, have similar features, and perform to certain extents. Though any of those factors may not be as pronounced as others, or may have high differences between the vehicles in the class, they are still in the class based on what features the publication decides to use.
Ex. Class " Cheapo-Cars", or Ex. "Cars with more than 240 HP", or Ex. "Turbocharged vehiles" |

Class is determined by interior passenger and cargo area.
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/info.shtml#sizeclasses scroll down to "how are vehicle class sizes defined" Hence a Maybach and a Ford Crown Victoria are in the same class size.
