Yeah, that title is accurate. My blower fan has developed an interesting quirk. When I start the car after it's been sitting awhile (i.e. more than a couple hours), the fan will be off like it's supposed to be. But if I drive it for awhile, especially if I have the windows open and the air gets blowing through there, the fan remains on the "1" setting when it's in the off position, even after I've stopped the car. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Obviously the air blowing through causes the fan to start up, but why won't it stop? It wouldn't be a big deal except the fan whistles on the "1" setting, so it's annoying. I'm debating which will be an easier solution, stopping the fan from staying on somehow (if it's possible) or just going in and lubricating it to keep it from whistling.

Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

No off? That is weird, although I've not had a 240 older than '83 so I don't know what yours might be like. Off on every one I've seen is all the way to the left.

And of all things, now mine works like it should. I don't get it.

Wow!
This is just what I need!
My 825 240GL blower motor isnt working and the heater slider is always letting warm air in regardless of whereit is set to.
Heres to hoping for the promised pics and a solution.

PS.. I found this info last week on a FAQs section and it wasnt entierely helpful...
Heater Blower Motor Replacement. [Query:] [Response 1: Kevin Lawler] If you have done several 240's you should be able to do a 740 blower motor with your eyes closed! Remove the under dash hush panel on the passenger side. Next remove the right side kick panel over the fuel ecu, then remove the 2 screws holding the ecu and remove the ecu. next remove the 3 screws holding the ECU bracket, and remove the bracket. Now remove the 5 screws holding the blower motor in place and remove the blower motor. Remove the ground wire from the old motor and unplug the power wire. Install new motor in reverse order. Some cutting and modification may be required depending on the style of the motor. I have done several of these, always in less than 1 Hr. [Response 2: Ney] The only important tip is to remember to disconnect the battery, because the ECU may need to be removed in order to gain access to the blower. Also remember the small black wire with self-tapping screw is ground.

In the owners manual of my 1982 244DL, it says that the fan stays on all the time. The manual also includes a different heater which includes a switch with 0 position for off
