I just got my 2005 S40 2.4i in January and its odometer is approaching 3,500 miles. The first regular scheduled maintenance from Volvo is at 7,500 miles, but I'm wondering if I should be changing the oil now and at the half-way points between the scheduled maintenance intervals. The salesman recommended it, but I'd like to get more opinions.

What does everyone else do?

I had mine change at 5000 miles but they didn't reset the 7500 miles reminder so I had to go back for them to remove it.

It was ok because I was late on my inspection so I had to go anyway.
Then they schedule me for the replacement of the fuel line. It is an official recall over in europe I think but I don't think they have it official here in the US yet. I think they take care of it as cars come in. But again I'm not sure.

Greg

I couldnt wait on mine either. I changed it myself when it was about 3500 miles, then took it to the dealer for the 7500 mile oil change/maintenance.

I'll keep doing it this way...I just cant wait that long.

Thanks for the response guys... I'm thinking about taking it in sometime this week or next.

I figured out how to reset the "Time for Regular Service" message myself when I was getting the warning after I first bought my S40. Check this out for some helpful tips: http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/chat/phpB...opic.php?t=4123
