if you arnt farmiliar with the "stereo", its a tuner, with a couple of small door speakers.

I was just wondering if/how you have replaced these. I have a Sony deck, 2x 10" pyramid subs.

i need an amp (what kind?)
and speakers (what size?)

i also need some advice on installation & wiring

Thank you :)

speakers: something that'll fit in the door, without too much hacking away. 5-1/4's maybe? could have 4" stock... 5-1/4 generally sound alright

QUOTE
green - 12v positive (always hot)
yellow/black - 12v positive (hot with key on)
red - power antenna
black - ground

i'm assuming you'll get rid of the speaker wirin thats there...if not then search for a radio post in the 240 forum for the whole topic on it.

amp: no clue.

well, its just whatever amp fits your subs best. i take it you might want a dual channel amp, seeing as you have 2 subs. pretty much whatever works!

Avoid brands like Sony, Pyle, Pyramid, Boss etc AT ALL COSTS. They are the joke brands of car audio.

If you have already purchased that stuff, sorry dawg that is some ghetto audio.

If you need to amp those subs, DO NOT go by the wattage they say they are rated at. They tend to say 1000w when the actual rating is 100wRMS. Seriously.

Check out :

www.caraudioforums.com before you buy anything else!

I learned almost everything I know from that forum and a couple of electrical theory sites.

Currently rockin:

4GA power wire to trunk splitting to 8GA
Alpine CDA9856 MP3 Head Unit
Kicker x2i crossover
RF2002 sending 100wrms @2Ohms to a pair of Infinity Kappas in modded speaker mounting (default 4" speaker holes suck)
RF1000bd sending 1000wrms @ 2Ohms to a single Diamond Audio 12" D612 in a sealed box

Sounds really nice and was under 800. Little pricey considering the car, but when you think about it you listen to music in your car more than most other things you could spend money on. :gitara:

Read up if you want a nice setup, or at least to make the most of what you have! CAF is a badass resource.

Good luck and happy bumping ;)
