Hi everybody,
a couple of months ago i purchased a 2005 S40 and i just love it; I read on this forum that the cd can play mp3 and my does but for some reason only the first 17 (out of 142); has anyone experienced the same with his/her cd player? i have the basic sound system nothing fancy but it sounds great; thanks, nita |

As the old-styler, I still burn them on CDs before putting them in the changer... And what I can tell you is that, TYPICALLY, in WAV form, one CD of (700Megs capacity) can only handle 17 songs of about 4-minute durations each. (WAV formats are really huge!) Now, I am not sure if this information helps, but your system may have been 'reading' the CD in a different format (as in the WAV form)... Anyway, you can change it to read the MP3s???? |

Hi thank you for your reply,
i use itunes to burn my cds and i can choose the format (mp3 or another format) from the preferences-advanced-burning menu; So i know that the format is mp3 but i dont understand why the player would stop at 17; And regular music Cd (cda format) can go up to 19 or so. nita |

nita, you are getting roughly 74 minutes of audio per cd. If you are using I tunes, (which I uses sometimes too) it is putting the mp3 data after the audio. The S40 does not read the data mp3. Hope that helps.
