If Cyprus has as many potholes and roadworks as we have over here, and if you are not looking for a streetrace, the 2.0T is just fine. The seats and climate control are great. Some road and tyre noise on the highways, the turning circle has been a grumble, and the front link or tie rods can cause creaks that should be covered under warranty. Make sure you get a long warranty, as the niggles tend to surface only after a year or two. Had to replace my fuel flap twice-a minor issue. Enjoy your new ride.

Well at first I was very disapointed in this car but you all suggested I give it some time. so here I am after 1 year and I like this car even less.

My fault for not taking a test drive though!!!!

I am being honest and not treolling the forum so please take this as a very honest review.

I have about 18,000 km on it.

It is by far the worst designed car in this price range. I am so upset I bought this car. I never test drove it so I deserve what I got.

Just a few of my issues

1) The worst turning radius of any car I have ever driven

2) Zero rear seat legroom. I mean zero!!!!!

3) If you are going to make a key the size of a cell phone, have it insert into the dash or the console. My knee keeps hitting it where it now is.

4) More wind whistles and squeeks that a entry level Kia

5) The door locks are beyond stupid. There is a single button that does not rock back and forth. Lets say you use your key fob to open the driver door to get in. It opens just the driver door. 2 hits open all doors but normally I just open the driver door. Now lets say I stop to give someone a lift. Because of the design of the locks I must first press the button to lock all the doors then hit it again to unlock them. WTF!!!

6) NO POWER TRUNK RELEASE!!!!!!

7) No light in the engine compartment.

8) Now they design this thing with fold down rear seats. Means they believe folks will be carring things in the back. Well the fools forgot to have any place to hook a tie down or bungie cord in the trunk lid????

9) They offer a 17" wheel option which I took. Problem is, they don't fit. When cornering even slightly aggressive the front wheels rub. Even my dealer laughed about the number of complaints they get on this one.

10) The heated seats just barely get warm

11) The paint on the leather of the drivers seat has already worn through in 18,000 km

12) This car does not like the wind at all. Very unstable.

13) Useless cup holders.

14) You need an engineering degree to figure out the HVAC

15) They have this stupid feature where the doors lock themselves after a certain time. Wish I had known befor I threw my keys, wallet and cell phone on the front seat while chatting with a friend I met in the parking lot.

I should have purchasd another MB 4matic C240. My wife has one and thought it would look dumb to both be driving the same car.

On the good side it has the bast damn seats I have ever sat in an the fuel economy is excellent.

I think you might have a lemon there, I also came to the S60 from a C-Class and while I will probably go back to a C (rear wheel drive anyone!) the Volvo is still a fine car. Not sure about all of your points though, so I'll compare my experiences on each of your points:

1) The worst turning radius of any car I have ever driven
Agree with this completely although not as bad as most people make out and nothing that you don't get used to pretty quickly.

2) Zero rear seat legroom. I mean zero!!!!!
Not the best rear legroom I agree but you must be very tall! I'm 6ft and there's enough in the rear for an adult.

3) If you are going to make a key the size of a cell phone, have it insert into the dash or the console. My knee keeps hitting it where it now is.
Yeah, although as above, you must be a tall lad if you hit your knee on it.

4) More wind whistles and squeeks that a entry level Kia
A bit harsh I think, although I agree that it does develop rattles more quickly than my C-Class did.

WTF!!!
I can see this being a pain in the neck if you don't have auto-locking enabled (like on the C where the doors lock automatically at 5mph) I'd get your dealer to enable auto locking and your problem will be solved.

6) NO POWER TRUNK RELEASE!!!!!!
What's a power trunk release? The boot opens on 2 presses of the keyfob button. My C didn't have a powered boot lid, same as the S60. If you mean no internal boot release button then yes, I agree that it's a bit of an oversight from Volvo.

7) No light in the engine compartment.
How many cars do have a light in the engine compartment? I don't think this is a negative point. Again, my C never had this, did yours?

8) Now they design this thing with fold down rear seats. Means they believe folks will be carring things in the back. Well the fools forgot to have any place to hook a tie down or bungie cord in the trunk lid????
But by the same token, unless you paid for an optional extra, your C-Class rear seats didn't even fold down.

9) They offer a 17" wheel option which I took. Problem is, they don't fit. When cornering even slightly aggressive the front wheels rub. Even my dealer laughed about the number of complaints they get on this one.
I also have 17" wheels as standard (UK) and get absolutely no tyre rubbing at all. I believe it's down to which tyres you fit, Pirelli P6000's are fine.

10) The heated seats just barely get warm
Yours don't work properly then. Go see your dealer. Mine get nice and toasty, have to turn them on to the lower power setting after a while.

11) The paint on the leather of the drivers seat has already worn through in 18,000 km
Paint on the leather? You sure? Mine's done 19000 miles this year and my seats are not showing any sign of wear. Car is only a year old though and my leather seats aren't painted.

12) This car does not like the wind at all. Very unstable.
Again, not something I have found to be an issue at all, and I live in Scotland where it gets very windy.

13) Useless cup holders.
Mine hold cans/bottles no problem. You might be talking about the mechanical one in the dash which I don't have as I have the integrated phone.

14) You need an engineering degree to figure out the HVAC
Really? Mine work in exactly the same way as my C-Class. Set the temperature, press AUTO and let the car do the rest. Even in manual mode, the buttons have a big inscription of a person driving on them so you just press the button that corresponds to the part of your body you want the air directed at and turn the fan knob to the desired power.

15) They have this stupid feature where the doors lock themselves after a certain time. Wish I had known befor I threw my keys, wallet and cell phone on the front seat while chatting with a friend I met in the parking lot.
If yours did this then it's a fault. The doors will automatically lock after a couple of minutes if you unlock the car but don't open a door, but mine certainly doesn't lock the doors if I get out without intentionally locking them.

I am, overall, very impressed with my S60, but as I said before, I'll probably go back to a Merc or try BMW for my next car as I really miss rear wheel drive.

If you have not bought one yet DON'T!!!! I bought my S60 just four months ago. Since then I have had the following problems:

- position light buld warning light comes on all the time although all the lights work
- electic window drivers side has broken
- hot air comes out at your feet when the AC is on!!
- Temperature sensor broken. Reads 7 degees when it's 30 outside.
- head lamp window wiper broke
- Gear box has a load clunking noise when it is put in gear. Volvo say it needs a major repair.
- Air duct in the engine compartment came off and was haning loose.

This is the first and last Volvo I will ever own. I am requesting that Volvo take the car back and return my money in full. If that request is not met I am taking them to court and will take it to the media. I cannot express how disapointed I am with this Volvo.

So Don't buy a Volvo. Ever!!!

Conquest, you need to have your car serviced and it helps to do a little maintenance yourself. Major stuff then mechanic. Looks like the previous owner gave you a bad deal.

Hi folks first posting so hello all, I did manage to lock myself out I unlocked the car, opened the boot, talked to a colleague chucked my coat in not realizing my keys were in the pocket, shut the lid and bang auto locking came in.... How bad.

I've not had the car long, but its one of the best cars I've. I like the style, the heavy build. Oh yes turning circle could be better but its what you get used to.

Yes, the turning radius sucks. So does the rear leg room if you're tall (I'm 6'3).

But there IS a power trunk release. Both on the fob and on your car -- it's on the trunk lid itself. In the center of the car (above the license plate, for example), where you'd just normally put your hand to open the trunk, there's a rubber button area. Hard to describe, but just take a look and you'll see it. As long as the doors are unlocked, it'll work.
