Hi all,

I am new to this site and have owned a J Reg 440GL for a couple of months now. I think it's a fairly decent car, but it does have a lot of rust on the back end underneath. It also seems to scrape at every speedbump, even with just me in the car!

I went to do an oil change yesterday and i couldnt work out what i need to remopve the sump plug. I believe that it is the same engine as in the Renault 19...? I know my mate had to buy a special adaptor when he did a change on his clio. Does anybody know whether it will be the same? Or if not, where can I buy such a tool? Volvo charge far too much for servicing!

Thanks for any help anbody can give

DON'T BUY ONE...

All you need is a short length of square metal, i use the inside section of an old door handle.

Thanks for that mate. I've just spoken to a collegue and he said he ground an old allen key to fit his.

I dont understand why renault can't just have a normal brass hex head like every other car manufacturer. Bloody stupid french idea!

So did you manage to get the sump drain plug out OK?

If the car is grounding out so easily, then the springs may have weakened over the years and/or the shock absorbers could be shot.
