I am considering buying a V50 but have 3 children. Can anyone tell me if you can fit 3 carseats across the backseat or if you can fit 2 carseats with one child sitting in the Volvo integrated booster seat. Like the car but gotta be able to fit all three.

Like your second idea better. Personaly I've got twins and would carry one extra passenger in the back. Therefore, placing 2 carseats, one on side and the other in the middle, and seat the 3rd on the booster would be tight but could fit. The other suggestion is simply put one carseat in the middle, with the rest seating in the boosters. I think this will work too. If these don't fit your need, move up to an XC70 with a rear facing trunk installed 3rd row seat, then you'll be able to fit them all in.

Hi Lofty
We have a baby car seat behind the Passenger seat - when it is angled upwards we can't move the passenger seat too far back as there is limited space for the babys legs. We certainly can't fit it behind the drivers seat as there's no space due to the driver being too tall.
As a result when we travel we have a problem with 2 adults squeezed behind the driver - next to the baby seat. I just don't see 3 babyseats working. I would much rather have the V/XC/70 or even 90 - but with a limited budget you can only buy what you can afford.
The car is VERY nice though and suitable for 2 adults and 1 babyseat and one child - more than that and it will get cramped.
Good luck.

JJ

Thanks for the advice - middle child's not yet big enough for booster. I will try dry run w/ the 2 seats and booster before buying. Don't think I want to spend cash or gas on XC 70 - although it does look pretty nice.

Students

Thanks for the advice. We're not so tall so hopefully would be less cramped. Current car is Jetta TDI wagon so I figure it's got to feel less cramped than that.

Hi Lofty,

I like Students have a car seat behind the passengers seat. We could squeeze it in behind the drivers but my son's feet would hit the back of the seat. I ride with the seat all the way back, my son is 1.5 years old faces forward. If as you mention leg space is not an issue, then I bet you could fit three seats. We had my son (car seat) with two adults in the back, snug but not uncomfortable.

Note that there are the fixed metal restraints behind passenger and driver but none in the middle unless you tap to each side. Using the seat belts may give more flexibility.

I suggest that you take a test drive with the troops to be sure.

Cheers..

Hey, did you ever test the car out? We are worried about the V50 being large enough for my wife, our 15 months old and myself and the occational 2 passangers in the back.

Did you consider a mini-van? I know I would rather have the V50 but I'm being very cautious in that decision based on we are going to have another kid and we are coming from a roomy explorer. The explorer probably couldn't fit three car seats in the second row.

We tried it and we can't fit 3 with our car seats. We are looking at the V70.
