just had to renew the vehicle excise duty, or road tax, on my s40 with a lot of bother getting it. just out of international curiosity, how do you make a car road legal around the globe, from registering, to insuring.

In Pennsylvania u need an annual vehicle inspection. Additionally, more populated areas (like where I am) need annual emission inspection and are done at the same time. U can only get the inspection if your car is registered and u have insurance.

up here in canada, you need to have your vehicle inspected yearly - which is around 30$ depending who does it, you need to pay a "registration" fee yearly of about 75$ - depending on your vehicles weight, and you must also have insurance on your vehicle as well. ( which can be fairly pricey. ). there arent any emissions testing around here to my knowledge ( new brunswick )
