Hi,

Because of all the rain we have had in the UK this last week. I have began to be aware that my volvo 440i is leaking. I opened the boot to find that the boot mat was soaked and opened the rear left passengers door to find that the floor was soaking. After a inspection of the underneath of the car near to rear left passengers door, there were no holes.

So i replaced the boot seal thinking that it could be that its not fitted properly. I changed this yesterday (i thought water was coming in through the seal and leaking down to the floorwell of the passengers seat), today i woke up and found that the boot is dry and the back seat footwell is soaking (only the left), the right is completely dry. Has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks

If the roof lining, seats, boot, spare wheel well etc. are dry then I'd start by removing the rear seat base and carpet & inspecting the floorpan from the inside for clues as to where the water is coming from. Is the bottom of the rear passenger door sound?

Make sure that the seal around the rear window isn't cracked, damaged or covered in "moss" and make sure that the cover over the join in the seal is present & properly located. Look for leaks where the rear wiper spindle goes through the hatch.

If no clues then with as much as possible removed (carpet in boot & rear left & if possible the rear parcel shelf), take the car to a carwash or preferably a jetwash and, with someone sitting in the rear seat looking for leaks, get the rear left passenger window & door plus the hatchback as wet as possible. Be patient, the water may not instantly appear, depending on the route it's getting in by.

Good luck tracking it down.

BB

I had similar with my driverside, the window seal had cracked, and was drippin on to the back of my door card, then in to the car, quick fix - doorcard off then run silocone around the plasic lining to keep all water inside the door then out the lower drain hole (check this is clear)
