I am from Belgium
have a 2.O Diesel Volvo S40 with 13.000 km just 1year old
the day before yesterday when I quitted work at 6.00PM the engine of my car wouldn't
start.
after several tries sometimes it started and run at about 500r/m and turned very irregularly- when I pushed the accelarator It died
had an emergency assistance who spread a mixture of brake oil and gasoline in the engine while I started it up, it run after 2 tries
he told me he noticed air bulbs in the gasoline tube
yesterday and today no starting problems
contacted the dealer , sounded very surprised , never heard something similar
car will go in on monday
am I really the first and only one??

You aren't the only one. I have the same problem with a new S40, 1.8l.

The car has only 3,000 km and i've already been 3 times to the dealer with similar strating problem - they said that new S40 has a problem with the software, that is not 100% compatible with the engine and they recommended me to be patient because there is nothing to do.
