I love my sound system but I still would like more out of it so far I have replaced all my speakers but I am still not satisfied.. I am now considering installing some subs but to do that I need to replace the head unit because I do not beleive that the stock head unit has a sub output... I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether this is really nescesary and if it is what is a good replacement head unit for my vehicle? All help is greatly appreciated...

Ciao, Erik

I have read a lot of good things about Alpine in Volvos on the different boards. They seem to be pretty popular and I am a fan of Alpine myself.

That being said, if you have ANY output on the stock head unit you can use it as a sub out if you don't mind doing some wiring and making a stop at radio shack :gunsmilie:

I am not familiar with the V70 stereo, but if it has outputs at all, it really just depends on how much work you want to put in yourself to get the subs going.

If you have a factory preamp out (RCA jacks), I would go with that...you will have much less signal distortion. Once you get to the wires, you will always have something like the alternator messing up the signal.

the mouse plug is a DIN socket which i think is a pre-amp line output to a power amp which drives the speakers.

for a look at what alpine subs are like in the back of a volvo check m car out on my profile ....
