Hello,

I am a new member. I just bought a 2006 V50 and I purchased the roof rails, the salesman said it would cost $200 to install them, anyone know how difficult it is to install. I want to try installing myself.

Thanks....

It's most likely worth the $200.00 to have them installed. If it was an older brick I'd say maybe give it a go, but on a new car I wouldn't take the chance.

Hi NorthFace,

Welcome! I too am from the north country just ove the border on US side.

Anyway, they should come with installation instructions, go to the parts department and have a look but as the other person mentioned, $200 to have them installed is probably worth it. If there is a leak or any other problem, it is back on them.

Cheers....

Thanks for all of your replies. I pick up my new car this Friday, I'm pretty pumped. I think I'm going to have the dealership install the roof rails, better to have them scratch the roof than me.

Cheers to all.

I just picked up my new V50!! Its raining here today in Ottawa Canada so my car was parked inside the showroom waiting for me. It was kinda cool driving it out of the showroom onto the street. Looking forward to driving the new wheels this weekend. I'll post some pics once I install the roof rails, I'm going to give a go, the instructions look very good.

Hi. I'm a new member. I've had my V50 since January.

I've been debating the roof rack cost question as well, and I'm encouraged by your experience.

NorthFace, could you post some pictures of the process?
Or is it so simple that I ought to just go buy the roof rails and trust that the instructions will guide me through the rest?

I'm a handy guy, so I'm not worried about whether I can do it. I'm just wondering whether I need special tools, etc.

Thanks!
