I just got this car and have been shopping for parts for it. I have been looking at rims as either my first or 2nd purchase for the vehicle and was wondering what your opinions were.
edit: My car is Black Let me know what you think...any links are appreciated. My questions are 17" or 18" and chrome or silver? Thanks in advance! |

I'm a fan of Silver, it is a nice balance, chrome focuses too much attention on the wheels and detracts too much away from the car. Volvo is all about understated elegance. Add chrome with black and you may get the streetkid on steroids image...which may be fine if that was the look you were after.
What you should look out for is the number of spokes on the wheel, the less there are, the easier it will be to clean. If I may analogize ... Very fine wine, requires delicate matching of food. You do not want to have one overpower the other. |

Akita AK4 comes in
17x7 and 18.7.5 Can't see any reason why those won't fit. If you like the Akita AK4 take a look at these Volvo S40 rims - Medea 18x7.5 - Sculptor 17x7 My favorite - Stylla 17x7 What tyres do reckon you will put on them? |

IMO, on a black car go with the silver 18". A black car with chrome wheels is too "flashy". But get what makes you happy...
