How on earth do you turn the service light off on a 1999 s40 t4.. I do all of my own services farly regullaly so i dont have an urgency to ssee a Volvo mechanic unless i have a problem. can it be done yourself or do i need to go and see my Volvo Mechanic?

You can only do it via the ODBII socket, so you either need a cartridge or an ODBII lead with software to a PC or Laptop.

Plenty of software about and leads, links are on this site somewhere.

Make sure it supports Volvos as some of the fault codes are not universal.

Hope this helps.

having spoken ages ago to the volvo technical adviser regarding mine that came on just after it was serviced i think i can remember the sequence.
1. turn the ignition to first click (steering lock etc)
2. press and hold clock or trip swith. i forget which
3. hold for over 20 seconds, i think. turn ignition until the lights come on
4. start the car. the light should go out.
i'm gonna do mine tomorrow so i'll report what works
