I get a low oil pressure warning on my 1999 S80 when it is at slow idle. Goes off when idles fast. What could be the problem?

Are you saying the Throttle Body had to be cleaned as well to clear the problem?

Ours started with "ABS Brake System Failure" intermittently flashing on and off. That stopped and was replaced with "Low Oil Pressure - stop engine now!" - again on and off intermittently and finally it decided to share time with "Emission System Maintenance Required."

Of course, United Volvo of Tulsa decided we needed a new engine ($7700 plus labor) because "the lead tech saw gunk on the oil fill screen" and therefore the whole engine was too gunky to lubricate. This was after we paid for towing 60 miles to get it to them. We had them flush it and towed it back to a trustworthy mechanic, but not a Volvo specialist. Checked the oil pressure with a manual gauge and it registered 30 psi consistently at all rpm's. Checked the emission control system and it was fine. Cleared the diagnostic codes and reset it. That worked for about 5 minutes.

So we now have an '01 S80 2.9 with 60,000 miles, hit a bump = low oil pressure, hit another one = everythings great, hit another one = low oil pressure, no it's the emission system, no..oil pressure. Turn a corner, everythings great again! We don't trust it enough to drive it more than a couple of miles at a time.

Unless someone out there can give me some help, I have to say......Thank God my good car is a 2001 Audi A6!

Just to update y'all, I had the service done on Saturday, Changed the Oil which was very dirty for 5000kms and the filter. Nothing else was done and the intermittent NO OIL PRESSURE STOP ENGINE ASAP has disappeared. Maybe I have to change my oil earlier like every 3000kms.

I haven't replaced the oil pan O rings as yet, the guy at the shop gave me the wrong part. So I will watch the situation and let you know.
