My 940 2.0 SE Turbo Auto – A/c 1991 -
Just had 77,000 mile service including new timing belt, gas treatment - engine cleaner & engine flush. Serviced by my mechanic who is an expert, (often he resolves faults that the volvo specialists can't remedy) .

After using the car for 2 days with lots of town driving, the engine cuts out when you brake etc. I took the car back and had the air inlet valve cleaned – was very black inside. The engine then dies down as soon as it’s started.

Diagnostic computer shows unknown error 233? Any clue what this means?? Had the errors cleared from the system, and it still doesn’t drive ok – constantly tries to cut out when you slow down even when engine is warm (A/c not in use).

Car was driving ok before the service!!

according too haynes manual it says error 233 is in their words

adaptive idling control out of operating limits symptoms-idlespeed too high or too low

Hope that helps but doesnt make any sense to me but your mechanic might know
