Hi everyone.

Have a V70 1998, 1984cc petrol, which has taken to dying when I take my foot off the throttle. It also has a noisy power steering pump that I am about to replace, ABS just started playing up and thermostat seems stuck open, all within a month or so but can't see that these are related). Have looked around various literature, and can only see idle air control valve for tickover speed control. Any thoughts anyone please?

Well, I'm not an expert, but I had a similar problem with my 1999. It started just as you describe and them progessed to occassionally not starting at all. Turned out it was the electronic thottle control/module. It was the thing Volvo recently started warrantying to 200000 miles. If that is your problem you may be able to get it fixed for free.
