I have had my C70 for 3 years now and have had these lowering springs sitting around for about a year. I want to get them put on but I wasn't sure if I would need to get anything else other than just the springs to drop the car about 1.25".

Please let me know if anyone else has had this done to their ride and any suggestions or advices that would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi,

A bit of experience from my side: my '99 C70 convertable came lowered when I bought it second hand. Im not sure if i like it so much - the tires bite into the car when trying to turn full. Result: "round tires"

The problem is not as appearent with the winter-tires (=16" / 215's) as with the summer tires (17" / 225's) Going down a size in tires (215's vs. 225's) might be the solution to my problem, but what kind of a solution is that ?!

My C70 is my second car that I have lowered. I did the work myself and I love how it turned out.

Lowering the car properly does not create rubbing. Your car might have been lowered with springs for the coupe only- the convertible weighs more. And/or the dampers were not replaced by stiffer ones.

The proper way to do it is to:

1) get lowering springs that should be stiffer than stock springs and usually are,
2) Get sport shocks/struts. These two should make for a sportier ride and have no bottom out issues.
3) Get new spring seats at fcpgroton.com for $25 a pair. Even if your stock ones look okay now, they are on their way out-weak design by Volvo and the newer ones are stronger.
4) adjust camber (or not because it is only mildly lowered),
5) Get alignment.

Did you do the lowering kit with shocks and struts all at once? What if I only wanted to do the springs? I just looking for it to handle just a little better.

Did you do just the springs or shocks and struts and springs all at once?
