Hello Folks

I've had my 2005 S40 with 17" tires and sport suspension for about 13 months now and the ride is just too harsh for my daily commutes. Is there any options/changes that can be done to change the ride to something more suitable.

I made the mistake of driving the "standard" suspension before purchase and decided to get the "sport" package as a better deal without a test drive. -- Oops.

Thanks

17inch wheels and sport suspensions are meant to do exactly that, dude... And as youfound out, daily commuting can be a bummer on the bum (no pun intended.)

Try selling / swapping it with someone else.

Could try calling one of the companies in the Links To Sites in the general forum. Maybe u can get softer springs/shocks/bushings.

I have a 2006 S40 with sport suspension also. I must admit it's very jarring. I have noticed that if you make maintaine the proper tire pressure (that is, at manufacturer's recommended levels), the ride is actually acceptable. I check and reinflate the tires frequently and it really helps.

On the plus side, I feel that the handling with the sport suspension is in fact significatly better than one without (I've driven the normal s40 as a loaner). On the instances, when I really had to step on it, around the curves or corners, I felt fortunate to have the sport suspension. You get some, and you lose some. Maybe someday you can step up to a s60R...then you can switch in and out of the sport mode.
