I leased a V50 in October, 2005. I have had my car into Volvo service two times already to fix a rear window leak. I just got off the phone with them to make arrangements for a THIRD service! We haven't seem much rain here in North Texas in quite awhile but when it has rained, the rear window leaks. On the first service, they thought it was the entire rear door that needed adjustment. However, it still leaked afterwords. On the second visit (about four weeks ago), they determined it was the window itself (my thought from the start). They kept the car for three days (!) because the window repair company that they subcontract to didn't get it fixed after one attempt. They tried again and then told me it was fixed. Well, it rained long and hard several days ago and the rear window STILL leaks. This is very annoying.

Has anyone else has this problem with a V50?

If they fail to correct this problem after a third service visit, what are my options for getting a new car? This is a lease and I don't want to be responsible for long-term water damage when it's time to return the car at the end of the lease.

kjj,

I think our problem has been fixed but we still need to let our V50 sit out in a long lasting rain.

The previous time it was in for service, the Volvo service department had a third party window repair company fix the window. I learned later that they only attempted to *add* sealant to the window. They did not actually remove the window and reseat and reseal it. (Sounds like they took the lazy, easy approach.) This last time it was in for repair (the third visit), the Volvo service department made sure that the window repair company removed the window and reseated and resealed it.

After a brief time in the rain afterwards, I didn't see any leak. I'm crossing my fingers that this is the end of this problem.

Good luck with your's - I hope you get it fixed on the first visit.
