Hello fellow Volvo owners,
I have a 1995 Volvo 960 that decided she doesn't want to start. She's got 138,000 miles on her, well maintained, been a great car. I tried starting her yesterday and she cranks over fine (sounds normal), but won't start. I assume it's either a fuel delivery problem, or the starter isn't engaging properly somehow to crank her over.

A little history...

I've noticed the past month or so, that she's getting harder to start and that when she does start, it's a little rough sounding. Also, she gets parked on a slight slope (nose uphill) which I thought may be affecting things as well.

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

Tim S.

Hey there, welcome.

The only thing I could think of, and as to agree with your previous assumption, would be a fuel pump. Have you tried stepping on the gas pedal while your engine cranks? I know the car is fuel injected but sometimes this works. Aside from that, fuel pump is what immediately comes to mind. Anybody else?

Yeah...I tried stepping on the gas while cranking, but it wouldn't start. Very strange how the car was working fine, and then the next day, it won't start. Anyone else have any ideas??? Tim S.

Might it be a timing belt, maybe it's skipped a notch.
