Hello All,
I bought a 99 S80 T6 ( i kno i shudve read the forums! im sorry)
has 120clicks on it.
2nd day i had it i see the check engine light with a emissions warning and airbag warning & the engine is fluttering at idle.

took it to volvo, they poped the hood to notice an oil leak and recomended a large service worth 750 buks without even touching the ignition.

the engine flutter took 3 spark plug coils and a speed sensor and ran me 750dollars

the oil leak was a PCV box issue and is another 680 Dollars
and the air bag system needs at least a new modulator that is 980 buks to start out

i let the airbag be and fixed the other 2. A hit of 1500 buks on my 2nd day of ownership. I bought it used but the dealer is almost family, he checked it out with volvo and it was fine.

any suggestions on what i should do with the airbag and what other issues can i expect.

can i do a Midas oil change and trani fluid change or does it have to be Volvo.

Your initial experiences do not make good reading. Unfortunately, our particular S80's did experience a few hiccups.

Your last question about the Midas touch. Don't let anybody else touch the car. If they do not know what they are doing-guess who picks up the bill?

As you remedy various problems-you are actually giving yourself about 100,000k's trouble free motoring-all going well.

Please keep us posted and if possible-try a pix or two in the garage forum.

Midas is never a good idea. I use a certified manchanic that specializes in Volvo repair to handle all my S80 needs. The cost is on average less than 1/3 of what Volvo would charge.

settled into the stuff that this car can my way now.

the Oil Change was 120 bucks at a local "VOLVO SPECIALIST"

also i got a check engine light and emissions system service required

turned out to be the fuel cap...............is that stupid or what

i have noticed that mileage has gone up a bit, whats a common number for a 99 S80 T6 i am getting 8km/Litre or 19MPG
