Help!!
Had trouble starting the car unless I shook the gear selector. Changed out switch which didn't seem to fit quite the same way as the old one - seem a bit thicker. Had to snip and solder the wires too...what a pain. Now the car won't come out of park unless I depress the shift override lock button.
What went wrong??

A couple of things here. The shiftlock micro switch will not stop the car from starting. That would be a bad PNP switch that would not let the car start unless you shake the shifter.

Did you install the switch properly? There is 2 ways it will fit but only one way for it to fit to work. When you look at it the part where the metal arm meets the switch need to be ontop.

Also make sure you have power from the brake light switch to the micro switch then to the soleniod.
