Hello Everyone,
I just purchased a 2004 s80 T6. It has 13k miles and was a "Fleet Vehicle" from NJ. The first time I drove the car at night, the Xenon headlights seemed to point almost straight down. The brights adjust upward slightly and by no means illuminate the road adequately. Brentwood Volvo here in St. Louis, MO claim that the lights are "self leveling" and that they cannot be adjusted. I find this really hard to believe. Is there anyone out there that can help me out with this problem. I am almost afraid to drive at night with the poor lighting with these Xenon lights.
Dave

I don't know if this is applicable to your car, but you may want to take a look at the link below. Hope it helps.

I know that the adjustable headlights on a 2003 5 series BMW adjust according to the seat position.

Thanks for the replys. The Xenon package does not have a visable leveler described in the link above. I can locate what look like 2 white 6mm plastic hex nuts on each headlight. The dealer says these are not the adjusters, but are "clips". Without knowing exactly what they hold or do, I am reluctant to turn them. The car is really unsafe to drive at night. Maybe new bulbs would do the trick?

My XC70 has standard headlights, not Xeons and they illuminate the road like no other car I have owned. I suspect the plastic nuts you described are the adjusters and your dealer is probably full of it. Unfortunately, not all dealers have good service departments. If it was me, I'd go to another dealership and get their opinion. Bottom line: Volvo is absolutely fanatical about safety! They just would not design a headlight system to work like you have described.

My 2003 was a program car and I had the same problem. The local dealer adjusted the headlights. The white knobs are the adjusters. I have standard headlights.

I have a 2002 S80 T6, so I'm not sure if they changed that much of the head lamp adjustment in your model, BUT I found how to adjust my lights. When you open the hood, look straight down at the lights, just behind them is a metal mounting plate that has a small hole on the top. When you look through the hole there is a round metal piece that has an Allen rench slot on the top. (may be a screw driver type for you) I parked my car facing my garage, turned on the lights and started turning that knob and was able to adjust the lights. Perhaps this will work for you too. Good luck.
