I have a 1995 Volvo 940 estate 2.3 SE LPT and i am unable to remove one of the spark plugs.
It will keep unscrewing but does not come out at all. Then you can tighten it up with a quarter turn. The car is running OK but the plugs have not been changed for years. Not sure whether I should just change the other 3 and not worry but I am worried that if I have a problem with that plug I will be stuck. I am guessing that it is a problem with the plug and not with the thread in the block but have no idea how to set about getting the plug out. Has anyone ever come accross this? (they are volvo spark plugs if that makes any difference). Thanks for reading this!

You really should change all four if they "have not been changed for years"...

Try clamping the butt harder and slowly but steadily pull it out...
