Hello there,

I've just had the exhaust (muffler) replaced, from the Cat backwards, on my '94 940. After about 30 miles the 'Emission Warning Light' came on. I took the car back to the Exhaust Shop and they checked the new parts for leaks. The new clamps were all tight (I watched the mech. check all the new sections and clamps) and the mech. recovered the joints with sealing compound. This has made no difference to the light, but at least I know the exhaust system is OK!!

Does the engine need retuning after a new exhaust is fitted? Obviously these are non-Volvo parts and I suspect the old exhaust is a proper Volvo item.
