First off thanks for having me on board here. Looks like this board will be a great resource for me as a new Volvo owner.

Bought the Volvo used recently. It had 177000 miles on it when purchased.

Lately there has been an awful shuddering that takes place whenever the car is accelerating or under any kind of load. It does not happen when the car is at Park with the engine at idle. I put the pedal down in that circumstance and the car revs just fine.

It's when the vehicle is in motion where it is very noticeable. Would appreciate any hints as to what the issue could be so that I can start the powers of deduction to nail the problem down.

As a side note I'm also having an intermitent Power Steering problem. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not. Opening the fluid cap reveals plenty in the pump so I don't think fluid is an issue there.

Other than those issues the car is just fine. Only paid $2000 for it in December and the interior & exterior are very clean and in good shape.

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Hiya,

Do you get any noise / vibration accompanying the "shudder".

Stu.

Have you had the engine mounts checked, mine had worn down to the point where the engine was literally sitting on top of the transmision.

I experienced the same shuddering at high speeds on the fwy, the tires were traded out for a new set of Avengers, so the next step was looking under the hood at the mounts. Good Luck!! :P
