I’m curious as to where most folks keep their valet key. When more then one person drives the car it seems desirable to keep the valet key in the car or when the need arises to use the key. However, isn’t this a big security hole? Will the Volvo car immobilization system (provided you didn’t leave the car unlocked) make keep the valet key in the car a moot point?

I carry one thin one in my wallet. May seem a little bulky still, at first... but then, i even forget it was there...

Actually, I was kind of wondering the same thing...where to keep the valet key? My previous car had a valet key that was without the rubber handle end, so it was thin enough to keep in the wallet. It also made it really convenient because I had a ready extra key in case I just happen to lock my keys in the car by mistake.

My S60's valet key has a very thick rubber end on it, so it really is not an option to put it in my wallet as I had before. I guess I could just put it on one of those separatable key chains, but it's kinda' irritating to have two large keys like that on the key chain along with the other keys on there. Any ideas?

The newer versions (I believe since 1997 onwards or so) have built-in immobilisers in the rubber end-part of the keys... That's why it's a bit bulky.

:)
