Hello everyone, my first post.
I've got a few questions for you all. How economical is the Volvo 440 in comparison to the 850? How does the ride compare as well? Is it a little stiffer or softer sprung? Finally, does the 440 have an accessories position on the ignition switch?

Thanks for you help.

:00000732:

Your location isn't clear from your profile, but I'm guessing USA & I didn't know that the 440 was sold there.

The 440 was made with various engines. The more common 1.8i should give over 30 mpg with a manual transmission, is sprung for comfort rather than performance and in UK spec. the lighter socket is always live, irrespective of the ignition switch position. The ignition switch does have the usual 0-1-2 positions.

Hope this helps.

Glad to help.

Lovely part of the World. When I win the lottery(!) I've promised myself a touring holiday starting in California then north through Oregon & Washington State, then up into Canada. Closest I've been so far is Las Vegas & Hoover Dam!

So was the 440 model imported into USA en masse by Volvo or was this a private shipping? As I said, I really didn't think that the 440 reached USA & I've never seen one on my travels there. Interested to know.
