Does anyone know where I could get an assembly/installation manual for a fuel pump for my 1993 850 GLT. I found another one at a scrap yard but am not sure how to take it out.

I know it's available in Haynes and Chilton but unsure of VADIS...

Just remember NOT to smoke at any time... If anyone with smokes come near you at time of operation, just give him a swank on the head...

Easy to take out

Don't do this with a full tank like I did

Disconnect the battery for safety.

Open trunk, peal back carpet

Unscrew the larger of the two plates to get to fuel pump.

Unhook the wires behind the carpet behind right rear passenger seat.

Try to clean off the dirt around the pump

Pull off two fuel hoses, remember which hose goes where. You'll probably need a a large flat screw driver to pry them off. The out ring pulls up, then slide everything else UP.

Unscrew the BIG plastic nut, you might need some large pliers to span the 2"ish.

Slowly Lift the pump straight up. Just at the end you'll need to tip it to get the lower screen off. Pump is free to come out.

When you put it back in you'll probably want to replace the rubber grommet.

Good luck.

Make sure you work in well-ventilated areas or the fumes would easily make you go high... (Hey, there's a reason why people sniff petrol, you know...)

When you lift the pump up, make sure you have a basin to cover for the bottom part, or petrol will start dripping onto your car, and leave stains and you have to deal with it until it vapourises...

Mark the hoses as and when you take them out. I used a red and blue marker pen for this.

And when you close the big round (as in circle) cover for the pump, make sure you close it tight... Fumes can easily again, make way into the cabin (especially in a wagon)...

Hmmm, what else...
