Hi There,

I am trying to find some wheel arches / spats for my Volvo 440 as a lot of rust has deleloped in the Wheel Arches.

I would preferrably like Black Plastic ones as these will match the car.

I cannot find any on the Internet!

Many Thanks

 By "spats" do you mean plastic that clips onto the outer edge of the wheelarch? If so, I've not seen any.

If the rust has already developed then you need to rub down to bare metal, treat with a rust inhibitor primer & then undercoat & repaint.

In the front wheelarches I believe that there is already a plastic inner wing panel to avoid spray getting into the engine bay - for instance on the driver's side to cover the access hole in the inner wing. From memory the black front wheelarch liners are clipped into place. Haven't heard of any aftermarket stuff though - anyone out there seen them?

If muck has accumulated in the rear arches, use a jetwash and a soft brush to clear it out from time to time. My old 440 must have lost at least 20lbs when I first bought a pressure washer!

My wheel arches have no mud at all. I'v got a really strong pressure washer for this reason! I hate dirty wheel arches. My wheel arches just have a bit of rust starting - most probably beacuse my grandad didnt keep it clean. There are chrome wheel arches on euro car parts but i don't think chrome will look good with maroon.

Fitting the "spats" might actually accelerate the rust, by holding water against the wing. The only way to hold back the rusting process is as per my previous post.

Regards.
