One mystery with the newly bought '97 850 sedan, curious if anyone has run into this one before.
The remote fob will successfully lock the car when the "lock" button is depressed, but the "unlock" button does not unlock the car. When the "unlock" button is depressed after the car has been locked, the lock buttons move down again rather than up. If you start with an unlocked car, you can lock it by depressing the "unlock" button on the remote fob! The button on the dash works properly. Thoughts and/or suggestions are welcome. |

I have similar problems with my 97 wagon's keyless entry remote. I've reprogrammed my remote a few times, and eventually just gave up.
Lock button always works. Unlock button works if you press it enough times (at least 10), but until then it just locks the doors as well. |

have yu tried another remote? sometimes you get lucky on ebay and get them cheap.

My remote is the oddball one that always seems to go for $40 plus. I am going to take it apart and clean the switch contacts, we'll see.

Update- took the remote apart, found corrosion inside. Cleaned it up using a fiberglass bristle contact burnishing tool, cleaned with contact cleaner for insurance, and now it works- a little. Unlocks the driver's door, but won't unlock the rest when double clicked. Solution- a new remote via Ebay...
