Hi is there a way to test the oil pump on the 480 turbo engine? And if it does need replacing can you tell me where, so far the only source we've found of them is the Volvo main dealer for £136!! So pretty steep!

Cheers
John

theres no real easy way to test it. its generally a mileage issue. you might want to try a renault parts place, as they should swap w/ the f2n iirc. or try ebay/ online places.

Yeah thought that, the problem is we dont know the mileage!

I was beginning to wonder if it would work with a Renault engine, Im glad you think it might be the same as well. Would volvo and renault share part numbers do you think?

Have never tried it, but would it be possible to hook up an oil pressure gauge in place of the oil pressure switch?

Normal way to check an oil pump is to remove it, check visually for damage/scoring/warping/broken parts & to measure the gear endfloat and the clearances between the gears & the pump body.
