when the key is inserted into the ignition, it will turn to the first position, but no further. the lights come on, so the battery is not dead, and the wheel is not locked. we had AAA come and the technician had no idea what was wrong, so they said to have it towed to the nearest volvo dealer. the problem is that they are closed on sundays, and my girlfriend has to get from nashville to greenville, SC for her classes tomorrow. if anyone has any idea what might be wrong, or knows something we might try to get this beast started, we would greatly appreciate the help.

I'd like to share the fact that I found a solution to this ignition problem. It has worked for me for the past several months. Use a couple of squits of DW40 through the long extension tube on the nozel of the spray can and spray directily into the keyhole. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and sudenly the key engages the ignition. Best of all it is so simple and much LESS EXPENSIVE than replacing the ignition drum, the keys, etc. etc. :57:
