440gs 2.0i. New battery fitted. On the first start of the day it sound like the battery needs charging slightly. After running for very short period of time it jumps into life. Just the first start of the day. Battery light works ok on turn of key, and is not coming on whilst driving, so alternator should be ok.
I am going to service it this week, but cannot work out why it would sound lazy starting for the first time each day????????
Anyone got any suggestions?

Various thoughts, from the more obvious poor battery charge state, battery connections, poor earthing of the battery or the transmission housing to the bodywork (or of the starter motor), damp on the connections & cold Manchester winter mornings, through to too thick a grade of engine oil being used, an electrical item such as the alarm draining the battery overnight, loose alternator belt, failing alternator or a seizing item that runs off of the crankshaft pulley e.g. alternator, water pump, power steering pump or air conditioning compressor.

By the way, UK members are planning a meet down the M6 from you - see Regional forum, Europe - UK subforum.

Hope you track the problem down this week.
