Hi all I'm Mike and in 2 weeks i will be driving a Volvo 440 turbo LHD 4000 miles through the Saraha desert to Banjul in the Gambia only just got the car but need some advice.....

there is an infomation centre and it has green lights on the outside and red inside one of the red ones keeps coming on can anyone tell me what they mean?

and secondly the engine at idle drops so she almost stalls and then revs up to about 1500- 2000 revs any idea what is causing this?

hello mike i have a g reg. turbo it has the same dash
from the left at bottom fuel inst this works and depends how hard you use the throtle it reads mpg it has only green light
second up is fuel avg. this tells you your mpg it has one green light only and if you hold the reset button you can reset it
the third one up is your avg speed which you can also reset it has only one green light
the top one is fuel read out range of fuel left in tank it has a green and a red one the red ones comes on flashes when the fuel is low 45 miles of petrol left it flashes
the next one up is the heat and level of oil it has green and red light if its comes on oil to hot or when you start her up it checks the oil level and tells you it ok or check if low
the next one is the engine temp. it has a green and red light
and the last one is the outside air temp. with a green and a red light if its gets below 4dc its flashes red to warn of ice hope this helps
as for the second problem with the idle speed it has a idle valve on the front of engine mine did the same when i was being hard on her but i never changed it i took it off and blew it out with a air line and put it back on it made no difference but she settlel done on her own but if im being hard on her she would still do it ever now and again hope this helps you as i see you did not get any info from anywhere else cheers rickie
