Hello every one. from Prévost in the Laurentians north of Montréal, Québec Canada.

Changing job next week. Didn't have to buy a car, pay gaz, insurance or auto repairs for the past 20 years. I'm in shock. To make a long story short, I'm looking at an XC90, 2006 2.5T AWD. I've been looking at this board for a while tonight and became less confident about the transaction. All those noises, leakes, radio and break stories make me second guess my choice.

The other option I've been contemplating is the Pilot from Honda. They end up costing about the same. They obviously are two very different SUVs but both have what I realy need. 4 or all wheel drive, safety and a good reputation (as I tought about the XC90 before I bumped on this great place).

Cab you reassure me or discorage me someone? I have to get something within two weeks.

Maybe I'll be a permanent member of this board:-)

Well, first of all :00000732:

Just keep in mind when reading thru any forum here, most people only post when they have a problem or question about something. The mulitude of people dont post just to say that the car ran fine today. But it is a good resource to find common problems.

If u really want to know about reliability, check "links to sites" in the general discussion area and look for one my posts (among others :) ). I put one for either JD power or consumer reports (cant remember which). Maybe that will help some.

Thanks S60 R :liebe011:

Went to see it today in Ste-Agathe at Franke's. God it looks great and feels good. I scheduled a driving test for next week and am looking forward to it. I live in the Mountains so just going home will give me a very good idea. 20 minutes on they highway followed buy the escalad of very steep and slippery hills. If I can stop in the middle and finish ascending from there without having to back-up, that thing will have earned its gallons.

They just received this Willow green one. It comes with the sunroof, the commodity and prestige packadge and the entertainement is in it. I would not have asked for that option, but it'is in there already and comes free this month. It hads to the residual on the lease but I figure it'll give it some value if ever I want to resell it.

I asked the guyes at the service dep. They say that the most common defects they deal with is the front suspension and wheel bearings. That (apparently) has to do with the very poor state of the roads in Québec combined to the fact that the suspension keep you from feeling how bad it realy is. Are they filling me up with that stuff? As per leaks, or cats, dogs and mice or electrical failures, they say they haven't seen on the 2005 or 2006.

I think I'm gonna go for it. With the maximum multiple security deposit, it comes out at 643$ Can. a month. The interest rate for 39 months is 1,45% and the residual is 36K. Since I intend to buy it at the end, I didn't take additional milage. It's like financing the puchase at a very good rate for the first three years. Thats what I figure. Since I believe in winter tires, I'll probably go for the extra set of 4, 17'' mags and 4 Gislaved winter tires. He's offering them installed for 1645$Can. Is that a deal?

I hope I won't regret this but feel pretty confident about the whole thing. We'll see :57:
