Hi, I'm new to Volvos and recently bought a 1997 850 wagon with the 3rd row. I wanted to get rid of the van and this was an alternative for our five kids. I love the car, but today the tailgate won't close. It's like the latch is locked . the door will go up and down but won't latch. At the risk of looking stupid I was wondering if there is a special button I need to push for it to work again.

hit the release button, while putting a pencil in the latch. almost like the pencil is the latch, and pull towards the opening to release it llike it would the latch if the latch worked.
