Hi lads n lasses,

I have just installed my freshly cleaned and re oiled K&N Panel Filter.

However, my mileage has dropped fro 27.1 to 22.5 for the last week.

I know the computer has to regulate itself but is such a drop in mileage correct as I thought improved airflow meant more mpg?

Or am I just being thick and impatient??? :haha:

k&n's stink. go back to the volvo filter. volvo airboxes are oversized, so the air filter isnt a restriction. also the oil in the k&n is known to fry the mass air if too much (or sometimes if done right) oil is applied.
if you're trying to get more performance, the duct coming into the airbox is the restriction.

Will go and put original filter back in.

I must admit, it goes faster when in 5th gear accelarating from 50mph upwards when the paper filter is in.

When the K&N is in, it hesitates at 50......then kicks in and evemntually gets there!!

I thought the improved air flow would equal improved acceleration!! It does at low gear changes when accelarating 1st - 3rd but not in 5 th for some reason.

Have you ever come across that?

I have always used K&N's back on Vauxhall CAvaliers and my S40 1.8Sport and they were fine but not on my beloved V70!!!

only time i've seen gains is on little boxes, like the cars you mentioned. the v70, no gain. its a trade off too, no matter what the adverts say, test showa k&n does allow more dirt in. dont risk it, return it.
