Hi, I wonder if anyone has experienced anything like this, bascially I have got a Volvo S40 and over the last week or so and it has started to take on some new characteristics. Here what is happening at the moment. When the car is left parked, it sometimes seems to reset some of the stuff in the car like the clock, the computer which measures the distance done on the current fuel, etc. Also this morning it did not want to let me into the car without a few attempts (it does have an imobiliser), but I eventually got in. The car drives fine, but has gained those few extra characteristics, does anyone have any sugestions what is happening or expereinced anything similar with a S40. Any suggestions appreciated. Steve |

Never experienced that one. But I'd assume it must be somthing electrical. Only idea I have is to see if you can arrange an exorcism. Good luck. Stu. |

I concur -- check the battery connections. Are they tight, clean, cables in good shape? May also take out the engine ecu and replace (could be a dirty connection).

Agree check battery as above, check condition of earthing strap & as it's winter here, ensure battery terminals have some terminal spray (or a little petroleum jelly) on them to keep moisture/condensation off.
Assume alternator is OK & battery is well charged... The immobiliser stops the engine being started, it doesn't prevent you opening the doors - that's the central locking system. Good luck curing it. BB :beer: |
