[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7]Hello all. I own a 1995 940 wagon. It came with the Volvo OEM towing hitch. However, as you all probably know the hitch size (inside diameter) is not standard, but rather is Volvo's own.

I am seeking an adapter that will transform the Volvo OEM hitch into a US standard 1.25". I want to be able to use hitch-mounted bike racks, etc. such as those manufactured by Yakimaand Thule.

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated.

Peter

The Volvo hitches are often Euro-spec units, and not compatible with North American components. Instead of replacing it, however, I would look for a local welding shop that does some trailer hitch work. They should be able to make up a simple adaptor for you for a lot less money than buying a new Class 2 hitch. A new hitch would be about $200 plus installation.
