Guys,

Have an 98 s40 1.8 gdi, 100k miles. Left it for about a week (holiday) and came back to find that it won't start anymore. I've checked the battery, gives out a steady 12v. RAC man checked fuses, all seem ok.

Internal lights/central locking works. Dashboard is completely dead. Turn the key, nothing at all happens (doesn't even crank, starter motor doesn't turn, no lights on dashboard come on). The RAC guy examined the electrics below the steering wheel and said that no power was getting to the ignition. Any idea where the power could be going (somewhere between fuse box and ignition)?

This is a mystery...

The only other alternative is that it felt betrayed (as I bought a T4 a week before) and decided to not work anymore!

:haha: may be jealousy! could be the ingnition relay. if that fails it cuts the ignition. otherwise it may be a wiring fault. pull the bottom of the dashboard out and go over it with a wiring diagram and current meter. good luck, and speak nicely to her!
